Cooperation with institutions and international organisations

In order to accomplish its goals, Eurochild AISBL is also cooperating with several institutions at a European as well as an international level.

Institution Descriptions

DG Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities focuses on the creation of a sustainable social model while promoting positive interaction between economic, social and employment policies. It operates in the areas of social exclusion and social protection by running programmes that counter discrimination and promote fair and equal employment practices.

DG, Freedom, Security and Justice can make proposals for EU legislation. It is also responsible for monitoring the legislation after its adoption by the EU. This department is comprised of numerous smaller sectors devoted to issues of international importance: civil justice, immigration, asylum, border issues, human rights and, among other issues, trafficking violations.

DG Education and Culture is a department that works to ensure lifelong education while also promoting multilingualism and cultural understanding. It is involved with the European exchange programme Erasmus as well as exchange programmes between Europe and other regions, such as North America.

The Committee on the Rights of the Child monitors the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. It also monitors the Convention protocols relating to child prostitution, child pornography, the sale of children and children thare are involved in armed conflict.

UNICEF devotes itself to children's welfare in a number of ways relating to physical health, education and development. Its intiatives are divided into sub-categories: child survival and development, child protection, HIV/AIDS, basic education and gender equality.

The Inocenti Research Centre is a UNICEF run centre that promotes the implementation of the Convention of the Rights of the Child on both industrialised and developing countries. Its focus areas include young child survival and development, basic education and gender equality, HIV/AIDS and children, child protection from exploitation and abuse, and policy advocacy/partnerships for children's rights.
