History of Eurochild

Eurochild has evolved from the former European Forum for Child Welfare (EFCW). EFCW was a coalition of non gouvernemental organisations which aimed at solving the problems of children and young people in Europe. It was the European branch of the IFCW (International Forum for Child Welfare / Forum International pour la Protection de l'Enfance) and its work was underpinned by the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). The founding members of Eurochild were members of the dissolved EFCW.

Eurochild had its inaugural meeting in March 2004. Since then, it has organised several events -  annual conferences, receptions in the European Parliament with children at risk of social exclusion as well as several seminars and work shops.
