19.05.11 Family and Parenting Support Round Table in Eindhoven

Members-only event on the role of local government regarding family & parenting support, the role of NGOs in service delivery and the benefits and shortcomings of universal and targeted approaches

In the context of Eurochild's thematic working group on family & parenting support, our member organisation, the Netherlands Youth Institute hosted a round table exchange on 19-20th May in Eindhoven (NL).

The event focused on the role of the local government regarding family & parenting support (eg service provider/ providing funding/ setting framework); the role of NGOs in service delivery to families & parents (eg discuss integrated working/ relation to local government); and the benefits and shortcomings of universal and targeted approaches & the emergence of progressive universalism.

The event welcomed 5 delegations from different countries for detailed exchange of experience. Each delegation involved representatives from both NGOs and local government. Participation was limited to delegations that are presenting a good practice example. Delegations were asked to prepare a detailed template describing their own experience in family and parenting support, why it is a good practice and what lessons have been learned.
