Join our Europe-wide network promoting the rights and welfare of children in the European Union!

Eurochild AISBL is working throughout Europe to improve the quality of life of children and young people. Our work is underpinned by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The main goals of our association are:

• The exchange of best practice between child rights organisations and specialists all over Europe

Our last members' exchange seminar focused on promoting child rights through positive parenting policies. The event was hosted by Children in Northern Ireland in Belfast on 26-27 April 2007.

• To influence national and EU policies affecting children

Read Eurochild's latest analysis and recommendations concerning child poverty in Europe here. Our Policy Forum on 13 June 2007 will provide an opportunity to discuss and influence the debate on policies to tackle child poverty at the national and EU level.

• To give our members the latest information about policy developments at European level, funding opportunities, events, Eurochild activities, etc. through Eurochild's weekly Info-Flash.

Membership cathegories

Eurochild AISBL is open to all organisations and individuals from the non-profit sector working in the social field with an interest in the welfare and rights of children and young people in Europe.

Full Members include:

• NGO’s with an interest in the welfare and rights of children and young people.
• Statutory bodies with an interest in the welfare and rights of children and young people.
• Academic and research institutions with an interest in the welfare and rights of children and young people.
• Professional Associations with an interest in the welfare and rights of children and young people

Full members set the guidelines and the priorities of the AISBL and make an ongoing contribution to its activities. Full Members have full voting rights and are admitted following recommendation by the Management Board and approval by the General Assembly.

Associate Members include

• Government Departments
• Any organisation or individual approved by the Management Board, concerned with furthering the objectives of Eurochild.

Associate members are informed of Eurochild’s activities and may take be invited to participate in events. They have speaking rights but no voting rights. They are admitted following recommendation by the Management Board and approval by the General Assembly.

Honorary Members include

• Any organisation or individual approved by the Management Board, concerned with furthering the objectives of Eurochild

Honorary Members do not have speaking nor voting rights and are appointed following recommendation by the Management Board plus approval by the General Assembly.

What are the benefits of joining Eurochild?

By joining Eurochild you will be able to:

• Access targeted information on members-only pages of Eurochild’s website www.eurochild.org.
• Get the latest information about policy developments at European level, funding opportunities, events, Eurochild activities, etc. through Eurochild’s weekly Info-Flash.
• Cooperate and share best practices with child rights organisations and specialists all over Europe.
• Help to shape EU policies affecting children by participating in the development of Eurochild Policy Positions and Joint Statements.
• Attend Eurochild events at lower fees and access other events where Eurochild is invited (travel and participation fees may be covered for organisations with limited resources).
• Receive support and advice on EU funding applications and policy developments.
• Participate in training activities on Child Rights, EU activities, etc.
• Promote your organisation to a Europe-wide audience and the European institutions through Eurochild’s network and information services.
• Access Eurochild’s growing library on children’s issues housed at the Brussels office (list available on request)
• Use Eurochild’s office facilities in Brussels for your meetings (up to 8 people).

How to apply for membership?

A letter requesting membership should be addressed to the Eurochild Management Board accompanied by

• A completed application form signed by the representative of your organisation.
• Your Work Programme for the current year.
• Statutes of your organisation (preferably in English or French).
• A list of members and their addresses (if applicable).
• A declaration accepting Eurochild’s joint declarations.

The Management Board shall review the membership application and issue an advice to the General Assembly, which shall decide whether or not to admit the applicant as a member.

Membership fees

Membership fees are necessary:

• To ensure the credibility of Eurochild AISBL and to demonstrate the commitment of members to the organisation;
• To contribute to Eurochild’s financial independence thereby giving the organisation greater autonomy to define and implement its own priorities and activities.

The following categories of membership fees have been defined and apply from January 2006.

Note: Organisations unable to pay the indicated membership fee may appeal to the Management Board for a reduction, giving details of their specific circumstances.
