Our joint End Child Poverty campaign

Find here below are all necessary information about our joint campaign and what you can do to promote it.

It might get a bit technical, but only if absolutely necessary. Please share this page with the person in your organisation responsible for communication. He/she will know what to do and how to get the best out of it [this is the only page in the Members Room that can be accessed without login and password].

Our campaign website is here: www.endchildpoverty.eu

Petition

Sign, please, and tell your colleagues & network, friends & family to sign as well! It takes only 20 seconds!

Further below you find a Basic Promotion Document you can use to promote signing the petition...

Messages

We ask you all to post (from time to time) a message for the message gallery. You’ll have a box for free text, and you can upload a picture, document, video link or even an audio recording.

Use it as another channel of communication. Share your work and views on child poverty.

You can post as many messages as you want!

National Coodinators

We should have a National Coordinator for each country. Some are missing, but the list looks pretty good:

Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Wales

Click here to download the detailed list with names and e-mail addresses of all confirmed National Coordinators.

There are still quite a few missing. Contact Björn if you want to become the National Coordinator in your country.

Tasks

  • The national (or regional) coordinator acts as a point of contact for the secretariat.
  • The biggest part of the National Coordinators work is the translation of the campaign website. More information below.
  • The coordinating organisations are responsible for checking & approving messages (in their language) coming to the message gallery. Ideally this is done in cooperation with other national members. In theory! So far the Secretariat was able to check the incoming messages with the help of Google Translate.
  • Ideally, they are endorsed and work with other national members (e.g. for website text translation).

All National Coordinators are also listed in a special section of the campaign page.

Translation

The National Coordinators are asked to manage the translation of the page into their own language. The page is already accessible in 15 languages! Thank you for your help!

Click here to download the Translation Table (updated version with an extra section for Facts&Figures). Send the completed sheet to Bjoern.

The language activation process is a long and difficult process. In some cases I (Björn) only activated the main parts of the website which are necessary to sign the petition or to leave a message. I plan to activate all the other parts that you had translated as well. Sorry for the delay.

Other URLs for our Website

We offer you to have the web address in your own language. When typing it in, people will automatically come to the respective language version (works of course only if the site has already been translated in that language).

The following URLs (web addresses) are active already:

Croatia: www.zaustavimosiromastvodjece.eu
Italy: www.stoppovertainfanzia.eu
Hungary: www.stopgyerekszegenyseg.eu
Finland: www.stoplapsikoyhyys.eu
Portugal: www.acabemcomapobrezainfantil.eu
Spain: www.terminemosconlapobrezainfantil.eu
Catalonia: www.acabemamblapobresainfantil.eu
Serbian: www.zaustavimosiromastvodece.eu
France: www.stopalapauvreteinfantile.eu
Poland: www.koniecubostwadzieci.eu
Bulgaria: www.detskabednost.eu
Germany: www.schlussmitkinderarmut.eu

Do you wish to have such a "cool" web address for your country? Translate the basic parts of the campaign site and request for your url. Get in touch with Björn.

Key Messages

Eurochild's Key Messages for the Year can be found here (PDF, English).

If you want to translate the Key Messages into your language, you can use this empty, but layouted template

Note: as it's an Eurochild document/publication you can get your translation costs covered by Eurochild. Check here!

Signatures List

Click here to download the signatures list as a Microsoft word document (Deutsch). Please feel free to translate the text and use it in your own language. You can also add your organisation's logo and contact details.

Print it out and use it on street actions.

What to do with the completed lists? Send them to us by post, we will add them to the electronic signatures. Ideally, you find the time :-) to type all information in a simple excel sheet (template here) and send us the sheet. We can then integrate the data into the system.

Why? People which have signed with you would appear on our website and would be counted directly.

Post Card

Click here to download the End Child Poverty Campaign postcards. You may want to translate the (small) text and add your logo (and replace the Eurochild one). Please keep "(a member of Eurochild)" behind your logo.

You may also change the campaign logo by using a translated logo (see next point).

Logos

Our campaign website has a special section called "You want to promote this website". Here you can find the logo and banner in different sizes, but also the emoticons for download.

Boy in different languages

Here you can download a Microsoft publisher file (7MB) of "our" boy logo in different languages. The translations have been provided from the NGO coalition's website. Microsof Publisher is part of the Micorsoft Office Pacakage. If you don't have it, let us know.

Open the doc, go to the page of the logo in your language. You may make some adjustments if you feel like. Now go "Save as", change the format to .gif and also raise the resolution to high quality. Save it. Now you can use an photo editor (even "Paint" can do this) to cut it into the right size. Click here for a screenshot.

Basic Promotion Document

Here is a document that you can use for promoting the campaign.

We invite you to adjust it to your own needs. You should insert your organisations name and logo (and weblink to your own website). Erase the picture "Your logo here" (at the end in the middle) and replace it with your organisation's logo!

If you wish you can also translate the text. It's all in a MS Word document and shouldn't cause problems. If 'yes' then get in touch with Björn!

Please, once you have translated it, send it to Björn so that we can offer it to others!

Use it as an attachment to e-mails or copy the whole text into an e-mail ('select all' -> copy -> and then paste it into the e-mail body). You can also use it to create a special page on your own website.

Poster

Click here to download our Poster: English Version, French Version

Best to print in A3 and in colour.

Did-you-know? Facts

From now until the end of the year we will send out "Did You Know?" reminder e-mails. Based on the Fact & Figures. You might remember to have received something like that.

We will make them now even shoter and snappier and would like to offer to you to translate them. Marie (marie.dubit@eurochild.org) will then create a Microsoft Publisher file or jpeg for you to use in your own language.

Facebook

Many people are supporting us already on our Facebook campaign page. If you want to know more about Facebook and learn how to create your own profile and organization page, check the "Communication Utilities" in the "Resources for Members" section in the Members Room.

We are using the Facebook page for small updates on the campaign or latest news related to child poverty. You can do the same! If you have something interesting or an update, just post it on this page. Everyone (registered to Facebook) can do that. The page is also visible for non-Facebook members.

We have a CHAMPIONS section (tab) on our Facebook page. There we show people (“VIPs”) who are supporting our campaign. Any suggestions for "someone famous and important"? I just need a good photo, a small description and (ideally) a quote.

September 2010 - Special profile picture action on Facebook !

In order to draw more attention to the EU conference on Child Poverty (2 & 3 September in Belgium) and also in order to get more signatures, we will launch a Facebook Special Campaign: "Children for EU action against Child Poverty"

For 2 weeks from Monday 30 August until Sunday 12 September we change our Facebook Profile Pictures to Photos from our childhood. If you can't find any, you may also take photos from your children or grand-children :-)
If you don't know how to change your Profile Picture on Facebook get in touch with Bjoern.

But that is not all: using the special website Twibbon you can add our little 'boy logo' to this new profile photo. It will look like a kind of stamp. Click here to have a look at our Twibbon 'Stamping' page.
With this 'twibbon' people will easier recognise that this is a campaign around the EU conference and our End Child Poverty initiative.

Our Facebook page is having a new 'tab'called CfEUaaCP (Children for EU action on Child Poverty; the strange abbreviation was needed as the whole title wouldn't fit in) where all the above is explained.

We'd like to have the little text explaining the Profilce Picture campaign translated in as many languages as possible and placed it on our Facebook page. Please translate and send to us! Check with your National Coordinator!

Twitter

Our Facebook page is synchronized with our Twitter account (You want to know what that means: check the "Communication Utilities" section in the Members Room). The feed is publicly available: http://twitter.com/Eurochild_org

Youtube

In 2009, Youtube was the most popular website amongts children in Europe.
Eurochild has a YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/eurochilddotorg

If you are also managing a YouTube channel, tell us about it and we can link to each other (favorite each others videos). That will increase our reach and popularity.

If you have no Channel, you might want to send us your videos. We can upload them on the Eurochild channel.

Do you want to learn how to set up a Youtube account? Check the "Communication Utilities" in the "Resources for Members" section in the Members Room.

Campaign Partners displayed on our campaign website

All Eurochild members are invited to send us their logo, weblink and a short paragraph about their organisation (for the Campaign Partners Section).

Recent changes on the startpage: a "rotating Logo" box. Here will be displayed the logos (with weblinks) of all Eurochild members (if you sent us your logo) and partners of our campaign. You!

But this is also the place to show logos of the organizations supporting our campaign. Ask your peers and partners if they want to support us!
They can place our logo on their website, send information about our campaign to their contacts, or to join us on Facebook,... In return their logo and weblink will be in the "Rotating Logo Box".

Questions? Ask Björn.
