The latest publication issued by Eurochild is a discussion paper on "A Child Rights approach to Child Poverty" (September 2007). It addresses questions such as: what do we mean by a child rights approach? How does such an approach change the way we view child poverty and monitor its effects? What are the implications for policy making when child poverty is addressed through the prism of the objectives of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)? What role can the EU play in this? The ideas presented do not provide definitive answers but they aim to stimulate debate. The paper was first distributed during an Event on Mainstreaming Eurochild organised jointly with Euronet in the European Parliament on 9 October. During summer 2007, Eurochild finalised a Fact Sheet on Child Poverty in the EU, including information and figures about various forms, areas and reasons for child poverty. The fact sheet is an A4 leaflet folded in 3 and was translated into French, German, Greek, Portuguese, Slovene, Slovak and Spanish, to be distributed on a national level. In January 2007 Eurochild published a report on "Ending Child Poverty within the EU". It is an in-depth analysis of the national action plans on social protection and social inclusion (NAPs/Inclusion) by all 27 EU member states from the point of view of children and young people. Eurochild published a background paper on Children's Participation in spring 2007. It quotes remarquable example of chilren's participation among its membership and provides a short selection of resources and other sources of information.
