Policy & Action

Eurochild aims to promote the rights and welfare of children in Europe. We do this through influencing policy at European level and supporting members' action to influence policy at national level.

  • Child Poverty in the EU
A key concern of Eurochild is the level of child poverty and social exclusion  within Europe.  Eurochild carries out work in this area within the framework of the EU’s Open Method of Coordination on Social Protection and Social Inclusion.
  • Children's Rights
Eurochild is concerned that the European Union underpins all its work affecting children and young people by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.  We are therefore campaigning for an effecting EU strategy on the rights of the child.
  • Thematic Priorities
Eurochild has established thematic working groups to enable members to engage in detailed exchange on policy and practice relating to specific policy priorities. The Thematic Priorities are currently:
  • Early Years Education and Care,
  • Family and Parenting Support,
  • Child and Youth Participation and
  • Children in Alternative Care.
