Building an inclusive and benevolent society that respects children’s rights: Let’s act now!

Summary of the alternative report drafted by civil society organisations on the state of the rights of the child in France between 2009 and 2014 in anticipation of the audit of France by the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child in January 2016

This report provides an overview of the situation of children's rights in France over the period 2009-2015 and proposes concrete steps for action. Children and young people were involved in its production.

Initiated in 2013 on the initiative of DEI-‐France and in coordination with Solidarité Laïque, the AEDE project – Acting Together for  the Rights of the Child – gathered over 50 organisations that are active players in all the fields of youth in France. Their main objective was to achieve a better implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) by the French public authorities.

This alternative report was conceived to be submitted at the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child ahead of France's control on the enforcement of the CRC.

The report also aoffers suggestions based on observations and the good practice noticed and/or followed by AEDE's organisations.

Report's summary is available in French and English.
