Building Resilience in Vulnerable Children

This event, hosted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, will include panel discussions addressing the key policies needed to support vulnerable children.

Vulnerable children are diverse, but they all experience high levels of adversity that challenge their capacity to develop and to thrive. Helping vulnerable children to build resilience requires investing in protective factors, such as quality early learning environments and stronger support networks.

The conference will include panel discussions addressing the key policies needed to support vulnerable children, interventions to build children’s resilience, and building shared responsibility for children’s rights. Eurochild Secretary General Jana Hainsworth will speak at a panel discussion hosted by the OECD, along with stalwarts including Nobel Peace Prize Winner Kailash Satyarthi, HRH Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands, and representatives from national and European child policy institutes.

This event will be held under OECD’s banner of inclusive growth. The OECD will launch its report Changing the Odds for Vulnerable Children: Building Opportunities and Resilience on the same day.

The event will be held on 19 November 2019, in Paris. The full draft agenda is available here.
