Slovenian Conference on the Participation of Children

Slovenian NGO Network and Eurochild Member ZIPOM are holding a conference on 27th November in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Read more about their aims here.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Slovenian NGO network ZIPOM is organising a conference on the participation of children in decision-making. The conference, entitled “Citizens of the Future”, will be held on 27 November from 9am-4pm at the Four Points Hotel by Sheraton Ljubljana.

The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of the right of children to be heard: a letter of intent will be signed by those attending to encourage those responsible for the preparation and adoption of the National Strategy for the Participation of Children in 2021, when Slovenia will hold the EU presidency.

The Minister for Labor, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, M.Sc. Ksenija Klampfer, and Minister of Education and Sport Dr. Jernej Pikal will be present to heed the voices of civil society and bring their perspectives. Children will be active participants of this conference, and they will be encouraged to express their views on participation and strategy adoption through discussions with decision makers. A Eurochild representative and a Bulgarian National Network for Children representative will also share good practices from across Europe.

The conference will be carried out with the financial support of Erasmus+ and will be co-financed by Eurochild. The City Association of Friends of Youth Ljubljana will be event partners. Participation in the conference is free of charge.

A more detailed program will be announced at a later date, together with an application form for the conference. Until then, save the date.
