Eurochild Children’s Council member to speak at UN on Human Rights Day

Konstantinos, Eurochild Children’s Council member from Greece has been selected to speak at the UN Palais in Geneva on 13 December on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Konstantinos is an active member of the Eurochild Children’s Council and spoken at various high level fora, including the UN Day of General Discussion earlier this year as part of the Child Advisory team, with support from Child Rights Connect. Konstantinos will speak in a panel with the US rapper RobenX and will also get a chance to interact with Michelle Bachelet, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The Office of the High Commission for Human Rights has also launched a competition for students aged 12-19 from the Geneva region entitled “My Human Rights in 180 seconds”. The children and young are asked to record a 3-min. video of themselves presenting what human rights mean to them and how everyone can stand up for human rights in everyday life.

Of all the videos received, only six were selected and the six finalists will be chosen to present their video in front of a live audience at the Human Rights Day celebrations, which will take place on 13 December 2018 at the Palais des Nations.

  • The audience will vote for their favourite among the six and two winners will receive a prize.
