Happy summer holidays for children in Poland
In 2019, Eurochild member Happy Kids foundation organises the 9th edition of the summer project Happy Bus, to connect with 10,000 children living in rural areas and not having opportunity to go away on holidays. The goal of the project is to provide the children with professional care, education and entertainment over the summer. The Happy Bus, parked for a couple of days in one area, will be a mobile playground, where children will be able to spend time with Polish and foreign volunteers, who will be recruited and trained beforehand. The broad variety of volunteers’ origin will enable children to learn English and at the same time get to know other cultures. The bus will be well equipped and will provide children with educational, cultural activities and active holidays.
A special forum will encourage children to have a say in a few thematic areas: dreams, changing social environment, children’s rights and passions. A Children’s Summer Manifesto will regroup the outcomes of the discussions and will be given to local representatives for later consideration. Participants will also take part in Europe Kids Want survey, giving their opinions on the future of Europe. The Europe Kids Want survey remains open to children until 30 June 2019.
The main goals of Happy Bus 2019 project are:
1. Extending access to different forms of spending free time
2. Language skills development
3. Expanding creativity
4. Improving self-esteem
5. Cooperation with local community
6. Spreading the idea of voluntary work
The project is supported by an educational trainer certified by Lego Serious Play. During the workshops, participants build their own 3D LEGO model in response to the facilitator´s questions, serving a basis for group discussion, knowledge sharing, problem solving and decision making. Therefore, Happy Kids Foundation encourages you to donate Lego bricks in good conditions, supporting the project. For more information, please contact magda.antosiak(at)happykids.org(dot)pl.
