Resource: Children's participation in public decision-making - Why should I involve children?

The Vade Mecum provides guidance on how to implement children’s participation in public decision-making

A new Vade Mecum developed by Eurochild for the French-Wallon Federation Observatoire de l’Enfance provides guidance on how to implement children’s participation in public decision-making. It is intended for persons working in public decision making, including, local, regional and national level authorities, but also for NGOs.

The Vade Mecum includes tips for looking at the benefits children’s participation; how to engage children to participate in public decision making; how to organise child-friendly consultations; how to ensure children’s safety in participatory processes; who can lead on children’s participation; how to measure success of children’s participation; and a check list to support ensuring no aspects relevant to child participation are missed out when organising a participatory process for children.
