Bulgaria - 2023 Country Profile

Read our latest 2023 country profile with feedback from our member from Bulgaria

This country profile is taken from "Children's Rights: Political will or won't?" , our 2023 report on children in need across Europe based on assessments provided by 38 Eurochild members in 26 countries. It provides recommendations for each country on how to address among others, child poverty and social exclusion, discrimination, health, online safety and early childhood services.

Summary of the recommendations:

  • Bulgaria should take action to strengthen the rights of children from families living in intergenerational poverty and children with disabilities. More effort should be made in order to guarantee that the necessity principle is applied consistently as to prevent unnecessary family separations. (Hope and Homes for Children – Bulgaria; Know-how Centre for Alternative Care for Children, New Bulgarian University; National Network for Children)
